About this piece.
A large bowl and a small one, both with the shimmering curl koa is prized for. Turn them in the light and the figure moves.
Koa: golden to reddish brown with a curl that shimmers as it turns in the light. It grows only in Hawaiʻi. More about koa.
Like everything Kaleb sells, it came from a tree that was coming down anyway. The wood dried slowly and went back on the lathe when it was ready, and there’s only one of this one.
Buying it.
Add it to your bag and check out by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or bank account. Kaleb gets the order the moment you pay and emails you, usually within a day or two.
Pick it up in Kāneʻohe by appointment, or choose shipping in your bag. Wood going to the mainland needs a USDA agricultural inspection before it’s mailed.
Within 30 days of purchase. You pay the shipping to send it back, so ask Kaleb for the address first.
Hand wash, dry it standing up and rub in a little food-safe oil when it looks dry. The full care guide.
